Review on Eviciv Portable Monitor: Touch Screen, Built-In Speakers, 7-Inch Display (1024X600), MDS-702 by Adam Botticelli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good display but no case.

I gave it 5 stars for what it is, a well made display with a crisp image. It comes in a beautiful box with quality cables and items listed in the description. It was immediately recognized by my RPI-4 running Raspian 10 Buster as well as my Windows 10 desktop, both via the HDMI interface. It's large enough to be read clearly when using AR and WSJT-X logging software, but note that the main window of the WSJT-X program can only shrink to about 3/4 the screen height, which isn't leaves enough space See most of the falls. I find that with the touchscreen, switching between the main screen and the waterfall is easy and not a hassle. I'm making a ham radio "box" using an RPI-4 and an IC-7100 in a frieght port case. I spent hours picking this display but overlooked the lack of a case. This display looks like it is a screen replacement for an unknown product or a bare screen for a new product case design. It's not negative if that's what you're looking for. If you want a second display that can be carried in a backpack, I would find it with a case. I've attached a photo of the back of the display. You can see that the speakers, circuitry, and thin PCB traces are exposed, and the buttons, including the power button, are also on the back. Once it's set up and the power button is on, it will resume when the power is cycled off and on again. Lack of access to the buttons is not a problem in my application. I will be mounting the display on short stands on a flat panel and will not have access to the buttons.
