Review on Samson Mic Portable Condenser Microphone by Stephen Johnson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My home studio goes - now let's step up the case.

I make tutorial videos for work and usually have to go into the studio with a Yeti Blue mic. I was commissioned to record a round table of individuals and it worked great, but then I had to travel across the country and do it somewhere else. I needed something small, portable and powerful. I was shocked to see how tiny the mic was when it arrived and thought "Of course it won't sound good." So I tested it at my house before hitting the road 2 days later went. It seemed to sound good. So I went with him. The sound was beautiful - clear vocals from people sitting at the table and discussing. Then I tested it in the studio in the office - he kicked Yeti's ass. With Yeti, I had to do a lot of post-production work to remove the background noise and clean up the vocals. With this little guy, the only thing I do in post is remove sighs and bad shots. Now that I'm quarantined at home I bought a small tripod with an adapter so I can mount the mic and a pop screen. It turned my home office into a semi-pro studio. I can't believe the sound of this microphone. My only scam? The case - the ball loop on the microphone is dangling - wobbles. If they could tighten it up a bit that would be perfect.
