First of all yes, it smells funny at first but I don't care maybe other people have much more sensitive olfactory abilities but even with my nose buried in it the smell is a thing simply *shrugs* There are so many worse smells. I would call it less terrible than chemical. What do people really expect from faux leather? The case itself is the right size for my 13" MacBook Air (2020 M1) but DO NOT expect it to fit if you are a small 13" it should definitely be on top of your laptop . It's a tight fit, which on the one hand makes my laptop really secure in it, but on the other hand I wouldn't mind having more wiggle room. I don't know if PU can stretch over time but I hope so.
