I first bought this strap 18 months ago and have bought it twice since. The first group was camping out on an island in Maine for the weekend when a severe storm (bordering on a hurricane) hit. I sit at my desk all day so the bottom of the strap often rubs against the desk and keyboard so I only change to a new one when the current one gets dirty. I've never had a tear or over-stretching, and even if I have, there are enough holes to tighten it up.
