Review on Bushcraft Crusader Part Cooking System by Calvin Booker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An improvement over the old version

I'm honest I haven't used it extensively but reviews of this new facility are limited. From my research, this was a big improvement over the old Crusader system. The Mrk3 is larger than the old version (which they still sell) but lighter and more versatile in terms of fuel source. High quality components. I was really impressed with the mug and the base plate. The anodizing was good, the surface was very smooth and the mug had 250ml and 500ml markings. So far I have only used a Trangia type spirit stove, which fits perfectly into a small niche. Wait 8-10 minutes to boil 500ml depending on the wind. The base of the stove does a good job of containing the flame and deadening the wind. In strong winds, the efficiency can be improved with an additional windbreak. I am disappointed in the lack of a lid that fits the mug. As far as I know the BCB plastic cup only fits the old version. I made one out of a pizza pan but ended up using a GI cup lid (DIY). The fit isn't perfect and there is a bit of play, but it seems to work. The dining room looks nice, but the ergonomics are more uncomfortable and slippery compared to the American-style dining room. The latter fits into the nesting cup, but then the cup doesn't sit properly. I highly recommend the BCB bag that comes with the set. It's not very expensive and well made.
