Nice headlights but a few tweaks will take it to the next level

I installed these on my 2012 Jeep JK after hitting a large crow and breaking the factory headlight. The OEM headlights were livable at best. First, the instructions are only included for the newer JL model. Probably the same process, but I stopped reading as soon as I saw JL and decided to find out for myself (it's easy, for the record). The fit is fine. It comes with a wiring harness adapter which I recommend wrapping to prevent too much water or dirt from collecting and corroding. performance is good. The low beam is excellent in brightness and color temperature, has a perfectly sharp cut. No flicker. With the right destination, I still have over 500 miles ahead of me at night. The spread is decent. High beam is ALMOST excellent. They are very bright and focused on the road, unlike the overly diffused light of many cheaper headlights. The problem is that most of the high beam is reflected back into the low beam, creating an awfully bright spot down the middle of the road below the horizon. What most people don't seem to understand is that you do NOT need a bright low beam if you're using bright incandescent bulbs. Your eyes adjust to the foreground, releasing less faint light from afar where it really matters. I drive 25,000 miles a year, most of it at night on back roads in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota - if you're going to see deer, you need to see from afar. You're not looking for contact lenses on the floor 10 feet away. Whoever designed dual function projectors for my other car (a 2011 Chrysler 200) totally appreciated it. The low beam is weak, but the high beam is incredible. That's why I still feel safer with the OEM HIR headlights (not even HID!) on my Chrysler than with those fancy new LEDs, which are undeniably brighter overall. I can only see further because my eyes aren't focused on the real sun in the foreground. Does this make these LEDs unusable? no Distant visibility is still pretty good. But I think they can be greatly improved by turning off the top LED that shines like a spotlight on the ground 15 feet in front of the car. Another thing I don't like about these headlights is the halo. I saw a braid to use them as DRLs and I was excited because it meant I didn't have to use them (I think the halos look pretty silly and overdone). Unfortunately, they still glow when the headlights are on; Although I'm not a fan of the optics, they are also very bright. As I said, I still have to flash; But when I look at them I can say that they are still a nuisance to other drivers. Much more so than the LEDs themselves. I'd turn them off in a jiffy if I could. All in all I'll keep them because I like the overall look, they work great and to be honest LEDs are a gamble. Most of them are just not very well designed. Let's see how durable they are. Nice to see that the LEDs are made by LG. Although there are better manufacturers out there, I'm glad this is a reputable manufacturer and not a fake from China. I will update this review if they fail prematurely. But so far I'm happy with this purchase. They would be almost perfect with a few simple modifications.
