I just wanted to install pipe hangers in hard to reach places in our 109 year old house. They completely isolate the pipe from dissimilar metals and seem to help dampen vibration by the hydraulic percussion, and most importantly, only one nail (ring bar) needs to be driven in, which, rotating, stretching and twisting to get to the sleeve, keeps the head of the nail above the pipe, protecting the pipe from being hit by a hammer via accidental hammering on the pipe itself, eg with band clamps when you need to drive 2 nails under the top of the pipe.
