I bought the stone coasters in the black protective base and use them every day. The coasters are half an inch thick making them strong and sturdy. The stone, although smoothed, had not been polished to a high luster, which would have rendered it incapable of absorbing moisture. The rubber sleeve that holds the stone protects my desk from scratches. So great for both wood and glass tables. This package is a feature that other providers don't offer and that is really needed. What's the point of keeping water/condensation on a table only to scratch it with a coaster? I am very happy with them. Not only do they soak up condensation on my glass as it drains quickly, but they also don't drip on my wooden table. The stone dries quickly so I can use another side dish rather than another coaster. Thanks to the lid/body, the stone stand sits inside so you don't have to worry about the stone getting wet and transferring that moisture to the table. This is definitely a great gift with a stand. natural marble stone look.
