Disappointed that the lids won't unscrew. They are held in place by the friction of a thin rubber pad. Of course, this seal wears out over time. Then they are useless. The lids aren't perfectly round either, or are they shakers? Whatever it is, or both. This causes the pepper to ooze onto the counter after you shake and straighten it up again. The seller offered to send replacement covers and additional gaskets. courting! May work or not. This is definitely a "questionable" design. The temptation is to come back and maybe just do it. Shame as it is an attractive set and goes well with other enamelware we have. You can just take a glass s&p set with good old screw tops. I do NOT recommend them for use, just for looks!
