It's hard to believe that such a thin and flexible square of silicone could do the job of a cast iron trivet; but it is, and with a minimalist flair! The Lodge silicone pot holder is very easy to handle and use. Just lay it flat on the surface and it's ready for hot pots, pans, baking sheets and even doubles as a nice stand for a hot carafe. I use it throughout the kitchen, countertop to countertop, and love how luxurious the red color and interesting pattern look on a variety of surfaces. It's also easy to clean (dishwasher safe) and has a handy hanging hole. My daughter put a hot pan on it and it barely absorbed the heat. It's a kind of magic. I recommend the Lodge trivet, although due to its thin nature I would not use it on surfaces where the proximity of a really hot pan or pot could warp the wood or scorch tablecloths. It is elegant, functional and reliably protects surfaces in the kitchen. In my busy kitchen with lots of pots, this helps make life a little easier. court
