Review on Haier HLT71 7 Inch Handheld Model by Roy Boone

I ordered this TV on the 8th. Months, and for me it was 10. Now it's fast! I have owned several small TVs over the years and they have tended to be very expensive. A few Casios and a few Sonys too. When I opened the box, I expected to see a more or less cheap small TV that doesn't weigh at all. To my surprise, this TV is neither heavy nor light. It seems well made, especially for the low price of under $50. I turned on the little antenna and had it scan for channels and there were three. I didn't expect more given the area I live in. The picture was really sharp and the colors were good too. I put batteries in the remote and went through the setup process. I adjusted the color and contrast and that was all that was needed. The picture was good and clear. The program guide is a very useful feature, as is the ability to display titles on screen. Few televisions have a program guide, and those that only display information about the program currently playing and possibly the next program. This program guide shows programs that run for several hours. The sound isn't outstanding, but what can you expect from tiny speakers. I tried using Sony's small external speakers and the sound was very good. This TV is useful when I go hiking or on a trip. In a hotel room, it would be nice to put it on the bedside table so I can catch up on the news before bed. This would make a great gift for someone who has a hard time pleasing the people on your gift list. For the price this is a steal. Batteries were also included with the remote control and that doesn't always happen. Thanks to Haier and Revain for a great deal on a nice little TV that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Update July 27, 2013 I have had this small TV for a long time and have comments on it. The picture is not as good as a regular 720P TV, but it's worth seeing.
