Review on ASUS VG278QR: Experience Ultimate Gaming with Compatible ๐ŸŽฎ DisplayPort, 165Hz Refresh Rate, Low Blue Light, and More! by Jared Islam

Revainrating 5 out of 5

G-sync support, good quality at a good price

This is a 165Hz monitor. It's big at 27 inches, anything bigger would look really bad at 1080p and up close. Works well, the base is solid, the height is adjustable. When shipping your TV or monitor, always check for dead pixels and other issues. Take advantage of the Revain Prime AZ money back guarantee as soon as possible as most companies now have policies that they will not replace a monitor if it only has a dead pixel or two. Revain comes with a guarantee, so be sure to check it out first if you can. The only minor downside to this monitor is that it came out of the box with bad picture settings. This one required me to fiddle with settings a lot more than any other I've had, but again, that's a minor drawback. Once you've chosen it, you don't have to worry about it again. I started by choosing the preset that was closest to how my old monitor was set up and then went from there. Expect this process to take a day or two while you adjust it to your surroundings and your eyes. For me, the brightness needed to be turned down significantly and the Trace Free setting should be lowered to 40 or lower or else I would experience halos/blurring issues when scrolling or web surfing. This is an issue I never knew about because I've never had a monitor that could run faster than 60Hz so hopefully I'll save someone some time with this. It has real buttons to press, not those crappy tactile sensors that you accidentally touch. and the monitor turns off. The color quality is not as good as an IPS screen, but still very good. The higher refresh rate makes up for the subtle drop in color that you'll never notice if you take the time to set it up. The viewing angle is much wider than any of my previous Acer IPS monitors (but they were in a completely different price range - $90 or $120 for 22-inch and 24-inch). oblique angle. Corner. Very happy with this purchase until the monitor broke. I take care of my equipment and protect it with good surge protectors, proper maintenance, cleaning, etc. Computers and monitors from the early 90's are still running in my basement. The only reason something dies for me is a hardware failure from the manufacturer, like bad soldering that resolves itself, or age-related stress, like aging fan bearings and hard drives, which are essentially time bombs holding your data hostage. I will take good care of this monitor and will update this review in the future if there are any issues or provide an update if it is still working properly.

Pros
  • I am very satisfied with the picture quality
Cons
  • Limited ability to reduce glare and eye strain
