I like the sound of these headphones! I have an Audio Technica ATH-M50 and a Sennheiser CX-300B Mk. 2 and headphones for the iPhone, as well as a few others not worth mentioning. Ever since I got them, I often use them on my PC instead of the ATH-M50. A comparison with the CX300 is no competition. The reason is that they use armature speakers. Look at her. You are full of victories. If you compare them to the Etymiotic HF3, look at the frequency response graphs and the 50Hz sine wave. HF3s are sort of the gold standard (alongside the Klipsch X10) in IEM headsets. Comparing them to the charts above you have a hard time telling the difference, apart from the fact that the 600Vi has about 3-4dB more bass in the chart. And they're a little cheaper and I don't have to worry about Etymiotics' "deep insert" style. (Yes, that's the actual marketing term they chose). Because they're also known as analytic IEMs (meaning they have a relatively flat frequency response curve), they help you better analyze the music (hence the term "analytic"). In practice, this means you can hear the music closer to what the sound engineer intended. Case in point: listening to The Wall the other day, I could clearly distinguish each instrument on Another Brick in The Wall (Part II) throughout the song. You know, in some headphones, bass notes drown out other instruments, but not in these. You also get the sense that the lead singer is front and center, lead guitar to his right, bass to his left, and drums behind all three. Really crazy, but try them and you'll see what I mean. The isolation is freaking amazing - I was living at my dad's house recently when the workers came at 9am and started doing everything they could to make me hate my life. . Insert the UE600Vi with Comply tips and they literally disappear. Very impressive considering the noise made me feel like I was living in the end times. That being said, there are several downsides. The first is the position of the microphone. It's positioned so low that it's impossible to grab the right cord when you want to pause the music or take a call without feeling and looking. Because of this, you also tend to pull the microphone to your ear when you have an important call. Secondly, you hear your conversation in the headphones when you are on the phone. How this was overlooked I cannot say. But the other day I was on the phone and I heard a car alarm in my ear. I asked the caller if it was by their side and they said no. The insulation was so good that I couldn't hear the car alarm from a car just 30 meters away. Third, a bad microphone; that is, if i touch the left monitor while the right one is still in my ear, i hear it as a "pop" and even if you crunch the cables you can sometimes hear it in the monitors. I prefer a connector like the Sol SL49/SL99 or the Beats Solo HD. (Yes I know the Beats suck and the Sols are dynamic drivers and they suck in comparison.) I just wish I could be a little more confident with the plug. If they use a right angle fork (which I prefer), why not make them sturdy? Anyhow, the corner sits about 1/4 inch above the body of my iPhone, which is enough for a pencil to fit between the connector and the phone, while the Beats Solo HD cable (I have one for my ATH-M50s, which is a detachable cable, modded to Receive) sits flush with the case.) So, to recap, or tl;dr in the forums nomenclature: Pros: Once you switch to anker, you're more mature (trying to imitate another saying, but it doesn't work ) Sounds amazing Analytical without sounding cold Isolation with Comply Tips is unreal 3D soundstage effect that lets you hear each instrument in the track separately When you get them, connect them to the source, turn up the volume up to about 150% normal listening volume, put them in a sock box and keep them there for about 3 days (or do like me: when I wasn't listening, they were in the box sucking up music). After that they sound a lot better. e.
