I usually wear a medium size, but other buyers have suggested that the small size would be right for a 33 inch waist. You were right. The small size is also not too long, about 30 inches inseam. Very convenient. The material is very thin, let's see if it holds up after washing. I would recommend and buy another color if it were available (currently out of stock).
