We recently bought a hard mattress and immediately regretted it. Sleeping on it all night was very different from the three-minute test at the store. Of course it helped my husband's back so we got a firm mattress but at the expense of our comfort I wasn't a happy camper. So I did my homework on what type of mattress topper should help in the situation, considering sleeping position, size, etc. I researched many types of padding, down, alternatives to down, foam, memory foam, etc. , and decided to try a down alternative topper first. I then did extensive research to find the best reviews and prices and finally settled on the LUCID 3" High Alternate Fiber Plush Downfill (smells but probably wouldn't be noticeable with sheets on top). When I laid it on the bed , I was happy to see that the sheet didn't flatten it but still managed to secure it (the ties on the mattress topper also helped secure it to the mattress.) The first night we got on it "When I slept it felt like heaven. It gave us the soft plushness we were missing on our new firm mattress and didn't bunch or flatten in any areas like other products I've reviewed. I've been sleeping for about 10 minutes now 3 weeks on and when I change the sheets I take it off and shake it to redistribute the areas that are carrying most of our weight and it's still so super comfy and plush also stays in place and when I make the bed you don't see that it has some kind of topper on it. it just looks soft and plush but still neat under our duvet. I didn't notice any temperature difference either and tend to sleep quite hot and was concerned it might hold more heat but seems to be breathing fine. Overall this is a great topper for our needs and I look forward to bed every night!
