The back of this device has a hard surface and cannot be opened.

I bought this to hold my laptop with the docking station down. I measured to make sure there was room along the length, but didn't notice that the back of the device wasn't open like the front, meaning it wasn't possible to tuck all the cables into the dock. I was able to take a Sawzall mini saw and actually cut out the back panel and it works great for what I wanted it for. A bit of extra work, but it's very functional. Holds my laptop, docking station and other frequently used office supplies that I need to have on hand for WFH.
