I have a Dell Latitude E6430 laptop with an extended battery and needed a way to charge my laptop from my car or directly from a 12V boat battery. This charger fits. Now I don't have to use any of those inverters with the attendant fan noise and inefficiency of converting 12 volts to 120 volts to power a standard laptop charger and then back to 19.5 volts (which is what a laptop needs) . This is the same power (90W) as Dell's standard 120V charger and charges the battery the same way whether the laptop is on or off. I will warn you of one thing. hot during use (at least mine). When unplugging, be careful not to touch the tip for a while until it cools down.
