So sometimes buying real rails is just too expensive or time consuming. This is a good alternative. They form wings in your 4-post rack that any 1U or 2U server can move. They can snag a bit, but after a little flexing, the servers slide back and are well supported. It is now apparent that the OEM rails hold up better and slide more smoothly. But I found that I rarely deleted servers and needed nifty guides that can cost many times more than regular guides. And if I need to delete servers, it's not that hard. The fact of the matter is that apart from smooth gliding, using OEM rails has its own advantages. They snap into place when you put them in, unlike those generics where they just sit on the shelf. It's obvious now that unless you move your rack, your servers won't miraculously pop out on their own, so I don't mind. But that's a nice feature for getting OEM rails. I wanted something for servers anyway without paying full price for OEM rails and it fit the bill.
