Review on Basense Monitor 10.1 Inch, 1280X800 Portable Display, 60Hz Refresh Rate, Raspberry Pi Compatible by Kyle Young

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The frame is one to two millimeters smaller and cuts off part of the image.

I really wanted to like this monitor. The device I received has a crisp, colorful IPS panel that looks great, and despite the light weight, the overall build quality was good. Unfortunately, I found that the bottom millimeter of the display was covered by a bezel, which was quite noticeable on the desktop taskbar. At first I thought that the position of the image just needed to be adjusted, or that the panel had shifted and wasn't properly centered. However, a closer look revealed that the active image area of the panel was actually slightly larger than the frame section in both dimensions. It was essentially a deal breaker for me, except I decided to keep the monitor and take apart its innards for a hobby project. These little monitors appear to be the product of small companies who are likely to buy parts off the spot market, so it's entirely possible that earlier and later production runs didn't have this issue, but my unit certainly did.
