This has a strong chemical smell when you open it, the brushes I got from the same brand also have a very strong smell of chemicals and paint fumes. Silicone shouldn't smell like that, I'm just assuming that the sponge inside is made of some cheap, smelly material or something that smells strongly of chemicals was sprayed on it. I don't want anything that happens to be on my face or to clean the brushes that will be on my face to have harmful chemicals or a chemical smell so I think I'll be returning this product rather than trying it get rid of the smell. It sucks that it and the brushes smell like chemicals because it looks cute and I think it would be helpful for cleaning my makeup brushes.
