Review on ๐Ÿš— Volkswagen Compatible Roof Antenna Base Gasket by AntennaMastsRus by Dale Hing

A little fiddling with parts

This is the second time I've installed one of these rubber pads. The first only lasted a few months before disbanding. Let's see how this one fares. Unfortunately, installation requires stretching and tamping, which isn't always easy. Boiling it in water really softens it up and helps, but it's still uncomfortable and I'm concerned about the longevity of the product. There is no better solution; VW does not sell the gasket separately from the base. I was thinking of removing the base from the roof to install the product. This could potentially make landing easier. In the end I decided it was too much work as I had to remove the B and C pillars and lower the headliner to get at the screw and wire to remove the antenna base. In any case, this is about 10% of the cost of a new base from VW, which is the only other solution.
