Although the Gear VR version I own is quite old (for S6 Edge), I think this rating applies to all Gear VR versions before or after. That's why I bought this (groundbreaking edition) almost 2 years ago. Try VR now. It's good? Then let's get into the details. First it's assembly. The headset is almost entirely made of plastic, which makes it quite light. It fastens at the sides and top for maximum security (the top is removable). It feels way better than any cheap VR headset, and that's how it should be. Warning! You can't wear glasses with headphones! Overall build quality is great but not for the price. ⅘ What about the functionality? Well, very nice. The headset works with the phone screen. In my case the screen is 1440p which looks sharp. Not perfect, but better than most VR headsets. There are quite a number of apps and games but 2 of them are Netflix and Horror Dreadhalls. This is where the headset shines. Aside from what's included, the VR cinema is amazing too. I use a headset to watch movies on the plane. Good noise canceling headphones and you might even forget you're on a plane. What about other features? Well, not so much, except in virtual reality there is nothing to do. Games are limited, apps too. ⅗Do I think this is a good buy overall? Yes and no. If you already have a Samsung Galaxy phone and want to experience virtual reality, then yes. If you already have other VR headsets like the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, then no. There isn't enough content for him. You will use it for a few weeks (months maximum) and then forget about it. Not because it's bad, but because it lacks substance. 4/5
