Review on πŸŽ’ Cotopaxi Allpa 35L Travel Backpack by Lakeisha White

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice bag but mostly useless waist belt

Pros: - Mesh back panel is soft, very comfortable - Internal organization is top notch. "The whole thing is pretty watertight. Not sure why they include a rain cover. - The zippers are quite strong and very secure against theft. - Retractable straps. This might be a game changer if you want to pass off your 35L backpack as a personal item at the airport. Cons: - No compartment for shoes. - There are no air ducts on the rear wall. - in the hand they can be removed). - waist belt. That's big. Seems like an afterthought in design. This is one of the narrowest and thinnest lap belts I've seen on a backpack (well, apart from the 28 liter version, which is more like a seat belt). There is a zipped pocket small enough to hold a piece of gum (no exaggeration). When I'm standing up straight, the strap is completely over my femur, so it doesn't really do anything. If I undo the straps so that the bag sags a bit, there's more weight on my hips, but the bag is farther from my back, which isn't a good thing either. All tests were carried out with a load of 12 kg. good as a light backpack. Perhaps the lap belt issue isn't as much of a problem for short-chested people (I'm 6'11, I'm lanky). Either way, I'll probably return it for a bag that distributes weight better on the hips, like the Eagle Creek Global Companion.
