I bought 3 of these over a year ago to filter the air. I have 2 in the living room and one in the bedroom. They have worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since I bought them and have never had any problems. If you correctly insert the cover into the base and then snap the top into place, the door issue will have an audible click as it snaps into place. You never gave me any trouble. I took one on a road trip to run in a hotel room and the lid never came off when loading and unloading in a wheeled trolley then lay on its side for a 4 hour one way car ride. Filters can be hard to find, so order early. I live in a dusty area so to be safe I change the filters at 6 months old. I also use a shop vacuum to partially clean the filters when I notice low airflow. I have goldenrod, ragweed and cedar pollen. I live in the forest so I also have oak and pine pollen and many acres of native wildflowers. These devices make life bearable without needing mega doses of allergy pills.
