Review on πŸŽ€ BNTECHGO Silicone Ribbon: Elegantly Flexible and Parallel! by Ronny Welch

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Don't buy a 3D printer with cable chains.

Seems like a good interconnect cable for general electronics but totally useless for 3D printers. When I ran this in my Voron 3D printer's cable chains, the print only took about 30 hours before I had a crash. It's very flexible, but the silicone insulation is very pliable and tends to snag and rub on anything it comes in contact with, including other sections of the same wire in the cable chain. Anything that's constantly moving, like a gantry for a printer, is a big no as it will break inside giving you an open circuit instantly. I bought two rolls, returned the second roll and bought PTFE/Teflon insulated wire to rewire the whole printer. It was a huge job that I really didn't want to repeat, but cable after cable kept failing, so I just had to get stuck and redo the whole printer with whatever expensive PTFE cable I had to use in the first place. Basically, I lost $36 trying to save about $100 and still splurge on the good stuff. When it comes to 3D printers, buy once, cry once folks. On the stationary parts of the machine I left this and it was fine so you could save some money by using this in some areas and PTFE/Teflon in high mobility areas.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • old
