It took some time to get used to all the zippers on this unusual transport box. It fits my almost 16lb Havanese with room. The fact that there are barred windows all around was good for my dog, because he could look at me through any window. This is an average size that technically doesn't fit very well below the height of an airplane seat. I flew in Alaska but got a seat with extra space. I had a very nice flight attendant and I think I could get him out if I had to, but he stayed inside and snoozed the entire time during the three and a half hour flight. I would not hesitate to fly with its carrier again, but I would definitely have a seat with more legroom. My top tip is make sure your dog's size isn't an issue as the carrier will be slightly larger than the space allotted. I appreciate the shoulder strap in addition to the handles. Holding on to the handles while the shoulder strap held it in place gave it more stability as we made our way through the lobby. I put the Pig Ear in a carry case for a few days before we used it and practiced with it on short walks so it would get used to it before D-Day. Of course he got pig ears on the plane!
