I was quite skeptical about various weights and clamps but at this price point I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to give it a try. I know that these products can add extra stress to the mechanics of your turntable, so I looked for products from this manufacturer (Pro-Ject) and tried to find something similar at a higher price. reasonable price. I stopped there. I'm surprised at how much the sound of some of my recordings has improved. Even in my modest hi-fi system there is a noticeable bass boost and improved treble detail. The effect is more pronounced on some recordings than others. I think the improvement is felt best on thinner vinyl than heavy vinyl. I would characterize this as a performance boost rather than any coloring. The only downside is that it doesn't fit under the closed dust cover (which I usually take off during use anyway, but would be nice for storage). I expect results will vary widely due to different devices and media, but I think most record collectors and record lovers should give it a try.
