My current menu doesn't include dessert/bread sized plates; I thought it wouldn't be a big deal, but I soon found out that the little platter is one that I use fairly regularly. This is the right size for a small dessert, breakfast sandwich, tea scone, etc. (see photo for scale). This melamine sheet is thicker than I expected and of course is virtually unbreakable. It's true that melamine is prone to scratching, so don't cut food on these plates if you expect them to look perfect. NOTE: They are NOT suitable for use in a microwave oven (melamine is not usually suitable). I'm pretty sure I've broken this rule my entire life, but apparently melamine can release chemicals into food when heated in a microwave.
