Wow, lots to learn. but gladly

This camera is MUCH more complicated than my last little 1.3 megapixel soapbox! There seems to be a button, indicator, or compartment on every accessible surface, and they're not that intuitive. As far as my experience goes, I don't have any training other than the basics, but despite that I've taken enough photos with my latest camera to pay for it. and then some. This time I want to do the same or better. I can compose a decent picture, but don't ask me about aperture or ISO settings. But I'm trying to learn. On my first hike I made the mistake of going to Dog Beach. I didn't read too much in the manual other than putting the battery in and attaching the strap so it was basically a point and shoot with auto settings. Trying a new camera on fast-moving, unpredictable animals was a mistake. Getting a lot of muzzle or butt when exiting the frame (significant delay after pressing the button). On my second outing, I went to the glider airport at the end of the day without reading the manual. Sometimes I get a bit frustrated, for example when I click on something I shouldn't have and then try to get out of it, but it's really my fault. After deleting the image I couldn't figure out how to get back to taking photos so I just stopped deleting them after pressing all sorts of buttons and decided to do it later. (Though I think I figured it out now.) As I tried to figure out all the menus and settings, I found it difficult to be prepared when a good shot popped up. I found I took very good photos which were definitely an improvement over my last camera. With a little "contrast masking" in Photoshop, they look great! I have some noise but I'm hoping to learn more about how to control it or at least reduce it in Photoshop. It seems that each "fix" only creates new problems. As I'm trying to take my photography to the next level, I should probably get a camera that outputs raw images. I didn't know that this camera only outputs jpg. However, it was an incredible price for an intermediate chamber. Just read the manual!
