Before purchasing, I used a Singer Tailor tape measure to measure my dog. I tried to follow the guidelines they set. The chest had to be a bit big, there had to be some extra material at the end of her body and her neck had to fit perfectly. However, the chest was tight, the coat was about 2 inches less than the base of her tail exposing her body, and the neck was loose enough that I could put my whole arm through it. Serious?!?! The sizing was so wrong that I'm willing to assume it was just a defective coat, but after reading all the other reviews I have to believe that this probably happens quite often.
