It's a great little screen to expand your viewing. It works well in both horizontal and vertical positions, and both are solid thanks to the excellent hinge design. This is IPS, so the picture is clear and the colors are not distorted at different viewing angles. Contrast is pretty good, although certainly not as good as my expensive print monitor. It's more like a standard IPS monitor and supports HDR. One thing you should know is that the HDMI connector is a weird mini HDMI that's bigger than the small HDMI you find on some computers and smaller than standard HDMI. A short HDMI cable is included, which I don't think is enough for my setup. So you can buy a longer mini HDMI cable if you don't want to place the monitor next to your computer.
