Review on πŸ”΅ LC101C Cyan Ink Cartridge for Brother Printer by Robert Oner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Filling my own with some cheap kit seemed like a good idea at the time, but I did it.

Looks like a genuine product. I've tried finding cheaper ways with mixed results. Back then it seemed like a good idea to refill my own ink bottle with some cheap kit, but I made a terrible mess and keeping an open ink bottle isn't a good idea. I took my empty cartridge and took it to Costco for a cheap refill and it jammed my printer. Sure, Costco refunded me for the ink, but my printhead was sealed. I just gave the printer to the Salvation Army and bought my now brother's printer for about $60 off which is less than new ink would cost even if I manage to clean the nozzle. Some people recommend only buying high capacity ink cartridges as the cost per page is much lower. It's great if you type every day. If you only print occasionally I don't recommend high capacity as these can dry out before you can use them all. Not sure if drying out is a problem with Brother ink but I have had high capacity cartridges from other manufacturers that have dried out. For me a real brother LC101BK is what you need.

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
