I have several of which bought these lanterns to reduce the cost of this expensive hobby. I'm relatively new to this hobby and not well versed in planted tank lighting, but I give these lights credit based on their cost and what they've done in my aquarium. I started with a high 20g with lights on the bottom cap and a few plants. My plants grew very slowly, if at all, and I figured they needed more light, but I didn't want to pay $100 for light. I stumbled across them and bought a 24 inch flashlight. It came in a few days, the packaging is very reliable and tight. After plugging it in, I was amazed at the difference. My plants started to grow more noticeably. I played around with the settings and turned on the 24/7 mode which is my (and my fish's) favorite feature of these lights. You can install and forget about it. I decided to wait with this review because I wanted to see if they suck or not and so far I haven't had any issues with these lights. Now I have three installed on the 40B tank and they all work in sync. My only complaint is that the retractable mounts are pretty flimsy, but for the price I can handle it :)
