The quilt turned out to be square, larger than a queen size bed but not a real king. However, this is the heavyweight 100% cotton waffle weave I was hoping for. If I wanted light weight I would go for synthetics like Vellux, but I'm tired of the way it crawls over my bed. Super softness is overrated: the softer the fabric, the more likely it is to pill. Think of the inside of a new sweatshirt. Fluffy down does not survive the first wash. Some sellers rely on "weighted" blankets. This cotton blanket is better as it is breathable yet provides enough weight for you to feel it.
