I like the 2 inch elastic.
I can always use extra tape to hold it more firmly to the board. But I like velcro, it doesn't interfere with closing the board. I have an old "V" style with a narrow nose and it suits me. I don't think it's a silicone coating, more of a fabric, but it's enough for my occasional use.
