Great Modular Helmet

First of all, 15 years ago I vowed never to buy a modular helmet. After trying them on I thought they were heavy and too loud to wear all the time. I knew then that if I didn't like the helmet, I wasn't recommended to wear it. I love HJC helmets. They offer great safety products at a very competitive price and their helmets score positively in SHARP tests. I bought a Harley-Davidson branded version of this helmet for my wife and was so impressed with it that I turned around and bought this one. expect from modular helmets. It's actually quieter than some full face helmets I've worn before and the weight difference is negligible. I doubted it was a dual vent system, but the open airflow makes for a smooth ride. The bonus is that I don't feel any difference in noise between closed and open vents. I find it fits a little tight, but I haven't broken these yet. It's not so tight that I feel like I should have gone bigger. The padding is substantial and I expect it to offer a comfortable rebound after a few more sessions. The sun protection is good. I've never had this and usually the touring package had a tinted visor with a clear visor for the night shift. However, I always wear clear lenses on long tours because I change tinted lenses all the time. The sun visor will definitely be a game changer for me on these rides. I've read complaints that the chin guard lock lacks some sort of clang to let the rider know it's closed. What I find is that the chin guard sounds deceptive. Turning it down almost all the way down sounds like it's actually locking. After pressing the lock, it makes a pretty similar sound, but when you hear it, there's no denying that it's locked. I could tell a slight difference in sound in just two tries. The lens is very close to the chin guard. Almost too hard. Our signature version of Harley is very difficult to open. Coincidentally, not intentionally, the HJC version is less complex. I believe this is due to the central latch on the bottom of the lens. I'm sure this will wear to the point of failure, but for now I'm sure normal lens wear (pits, scratches, etc.) will have to replace the lens by then anyway.
