As a one-man chef, I was looking for a container in which I could collect odorless compostable food for several days. I love this bucket. I drove a full two weeks (when I finally filled up) and experienced no issues with flies or smell. Yes, a little decomposed then; but even with the lid closed for the new additives, the smell was rather faint. I didn't use any bags and I don't see a need for them because the container is easy to clean and there was no residual odor. (I use lemon ammonia to clean.) At first I wish it was narrower so it would fit on my counter, but now I'm glad it's wider than most I've seen because I peel it and break right into it can. without having to be as careful as a smaller, rounder hole would be. Also, I found it easy to pick it up from a position on the floor next to the trash can by the very handy handle and set it on the counter when I needed it. In fact, it's so easy to get that I really enjoy using my counter space for items you just can't put on the floor. Bottom line is all good.
