So I'm a big fan of music and headphones in general. I have an $800 Sennheiser ie800 through to a $10 Sony MH755. I have average JVC headphones, Sennheiser ie40 PRO. NiceHCK NX7, UE 700 and TF10 as well as Moondrop Crescents and Kanas Pros. So my experience with headphones is extensive. How I stumbled across these CCA C4s I won a $100 Revain purchase at work and after buying an air fryer I have $20 left over. I wanted to buy pants that might be suitable for the gym. something cheap that if they have sweat damage, no sweat (pun intended). I've read a ton of reviews from about 100 different discounters, but most would mention bass bloating, mid-bass thumps, and bleeding. I'm not a bushead so I wasn't looking for it. Finally I decided to bring them a flyer. I've had decent if not good experiences with some dual driver hybrids (Fidue A73! KZ ZST!) but I didn't have high hopes for these particular hybrids. I was even planning on giving them away, but then I decided to open them up and listen. Boy was I glad when I did! the first thing that struck me was the well defined bass! very clear and punchy for a $20 headphone. no bleeding. no swelling. Next came the definition. these things have really good note weight and upper register resolution. They have a really well controlled rise and the highs are extended with no hiss (very little once they're already on the record) and some really nice attack and presence in the mids. they are pretty balanced. They're not totally flat or what I would call clinical, but they have above-average detail reproduction and are quite musical. The NX7 are better at bringing out detail, but for something this cheap they rival my much more expensive kits by delivering good detail and a killer soundstage. wide. not high or round, but broad and spacious. The distance is also above average. not blotchy (again, other kits do better), but then again. For the price, these things can't be beat! The guitars and keyboards shine and the bass drums are a lot of fun. To some they may seem overly balanced and devoid of sub-bass, but for me personally the presence of bass is exactly where I like it. but no bass blasters. the hip-hop sounded very good, but it wasn't a subwoofer-like sound that hit the ears, it was a really clean and precise sound with lots of bass and presence with crystal clear and extended highs. The voices are not deepened and everything is presented very professionally and musically. They definitely suit my fitness needs that I can enjoy anywhere without fear of damaging them and losing a ton of money. They come highly recommended and now I'm forced to try CCA C10 to see how much better they are for an extra $20? Hooray!
