As a brass player I feel like I can talk about pitch, bore, bore and articulation. Like a cop directing traffic, I can often talk about whistles. I started with Thunderer and quickly found the Fox40 original superior. Now I'm trying out this mic. It has good and bad qualities. First tests show that it is just as loud as the original. The steps are slightly different from the original Fox40s, but the difference is negligible at best. The micro opening through which air flows is MUCH larger. I often over-blow the original's smaller opening and suck air from the outside of the whistle. The larger oval micro opening allows more air to be pumped in without air escaping. But a wide aperture also causes differences in articulation and pitch change. The original made it easier to control pitch and take short notes. The last little issue with the Micro is the texture. Feels gritty/sandy on the lips. I think I can fix it with sandpaper so it's not a problem. Overall I like the Fox40 Micro and will eventually get used to it and adapt to its features.
