The slate looks chipped and I love the look. However, a corner of the circuit board broke off before packaging. How do I know. The fragment was not in the box and you can clearly see the even break in the stone. It is clear that the slate is fragile, but I expected that the manufacturer would not send a broken slate. Now that I have the boards I will tell you more about them. The boards are thick and look great when serving sushi. I will be replacing my bamboo boards with these. I also like that they have rubber feet so they can be taken off the table easily. Overall the size is good and I'm happy to add it to my sushi stash. Just a little disappointed that one of the boards was broken.
