Cool novelty! - Storage and organization

I love this Funlavie camera lens mug! (Read on!) We have a Canon digital camera and it looks a lot like the telephoto lens we bought for it. The outside of the mug is made of food grade PVC plastic. Inside, a stainless steel thermos suitable for drinking; and you won't get any flavor transfer or chemicals in your drink like you would with a plastic interior. It doesn't look like it's double-walled stainless steel, nor does the description say so, so it doesn't keep your coffee as hot as, say, a Yeti. The draw here is the novelty factor, not superior thermal retention. It's not something you usually see someone drinking from. I myself have not seen any, except my own. This is a real talking point! I bought the black version of this mug. I thought the cap would look like a lens cap (more on that later), but it's actually a sipper cap with a slide closure. I read some reviews that said there is no hole in the lid for drinking and that you have to remove the entire lid to drink, which can be very inconvenient when driving. I'm assuming it's a clear cap that looks like a real lens. If you need a drinking cap, order the black one and you'll be happy. Here's the problem with the lid. It is not easy to put on and take off. The lid and cup are threaded, however the threads don't seem to match very well. I actually had to do a combination of unscrewing and pushing down on the lid for it to close properly. I had to pressure her because after several attempts to screw her up it wasn't possible and she was still sitting cross-eyed on the mug. There is a rubber seal in the cap for leakage. I filled the mug with water and turned it upside down with the lid on properly (I guess it's hard to tell) and the sipper lid is closed. It didn't leak around the seal, but it did leak a little out of the closed sipper lid, so it's not a 100% sealed lid. Again, I think this is a novelty, so I didn't expect it to be completely sealed. However, if you use it as your daily cup, you might want to consider it. As much as I love this mug, I will not use it for its intended purpose. I actually *didn't* want to use it as a drinking cup. I thought I could use it as a storage case when traveling. I wanted to put things like my jewelry, money, etc. in the cup. The idea was that most people would just think it was a camera lens and not try to open it. That's why I ordered black. I didn't need a transparent lid to look inside and see the contents of the cup. So I ordered a black cap instead, thinking it would look the same as the lens cap. Little did I know this is actually a functional drinking cap. Here's my idea for you! Although this is my fault. Retroactive 20/20. I had to write to the seller before purchasing to ask for the lids. Although it didn't cross my mind. Now that I probably won't use it to store my personal items anymore, I probably won't drink from it either. First, it doesn't hold much liquid at all. The listing says 10 ounces; I measured the volume and 10 ounces comes to the end of the thread so that's it. However, I don't drink coffee, I drink iced tea and you won't get much tea and ice in a 10 ounce mug. It's also not 100% stable as the base is smaller than the rest of the mug. But the problem is the lid. I think I will constantly worry that the lid is not screwed on properly and could leak. Overall I'm quite happy with my purchase, even if I don't use it for its intended purpose. Like I said, I think it's basically a really cool novelty and an icebreaker to talk about. I received this Funlavie Camera Lens Mug at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review that was in no way influenced by the seller. I recommend it as a novelty and maybe a real mug with some considerations.
