The backpack is of course beautiful, but yes, beautiful. The straps are of fairly good quality and the material appears to have been waterproof after the light rains that have been coming since October. My main issue with this backpack is that my third grader used it at school for a total of eight weeks and it's officially dead. The second week when she started using it, the zipper came loose. They gave us extra pull tabs which is great but they also broke at 3rd and 4th week which is why you see the scrunchie in the picture. Now the zipper itself is completely broken and won't close at all. My daughter loves this backpack for its cuteness and uniqueness so believe me I've tried to fix that. Sadly he is dead. As a mother I can tell you from day one that this backpack was missing a few key features. The drinking bottle pocket is not elastic but made of leather. So unless you have a fairly slim water bottle that fits in the side pockets, carrying a water bottle in your backpack is difficult. In addition, the backpack does not hold much. We're struggling to fit some library books and a lunch box in. The bottom just isn't wide enough. My daughter loves this backpack and let me regenerate it every time something broke, but today she finally agreed it should be thrown away. Too bad because it's a really cute backpack. It just lacks some basic functionality and died for us after 8 weeks in third grade.
