These lights are great for the aquarium hobby, they are slim and not too bulky like other lights sold at most retail outlets. The full spectrum makes it easy to grow aquatic plants, the wattage is around 17-18 watts, I've ordered 2 x 18" and 1 x 12" models. The 12" model had a problem with the plug, but it was easy to replace and the new one worked. I've had this in both tanks for about 2 months now and I love that these lights aren't too bright for freshwater tanks but provide enough energy to grow plants and show off the coloring of my gouramis. If you're starting a new aquarium, ditch the store fixtures and order them to save some money and give your fish a little more fun in their new aquascape.
