The first thing you need find some extension cords. The power cords on them aren't long enough unless you intend to place them near an outlet. Next thing you need are better coasters. They're really flimsy, and when they're fully extended - which actually isn't much - they're very unstable. Sandbags help. Any weights would help. With a reflector, lamp and deblocker, they can be knocked over fairly easily. As for the light side, the mount/reflector assembly fits a standard light stand and I happen to have a couple of these nearby. If you don't and want to use them instead, don't skimp on what you replace them with. I think there is a real issue with electrical safety as well. DO NOT CONNECT THEM UNTIL THE REFLECTOR IS FULLY ASSEMBLED. The shade is held open by a ring that snaps onto the lamp socket. The bulb must be removed to engage this ring. This opens up the possibility of a finger entering the setting while locking the ring in place. Not the best way to start taking photos/videos. After assembly with built-in lamp and arrester, the device works perfectly. The remote control is a nice touch that makes it easy to adjust the lighting if you're the subject. Of course, it would be nice to have some sort of manual showing what some of the more mysterious icons on the remote do, but trial and error will get you familiar with the controls quickly enough. Batteries are not included, so add four AAA batteries to your shopping list while shopping for extension cords. The case that packs everything in fits, but feels just as thin as the coasters. The flash is a bit iffy and I don't really expect it to last very long. Then again, I doubt this will be my remote, so packing and unpacking won't be a big deal. Finally there is a lightbulb. Other reviews have shown that it gets quite hot with prolonged use. It's a little surprising for a bunch of LEDs, but I didn't run them long enough to test it. I'm very worried about what will happen if/if it burns out. It is clear that the remote controls the lightbulb directly, since it cannot interact with anything else. Bulb replacement may become a problem in the future and render this kit useless in the future. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but I'm thinking about these things. All in all I definitely don't recommend this kit if you are on a really tight budget, you should have something you don't mind. in the near future or you just need something to shed some light on your next Zoom meeting.
