I like this DVR. I used to use CCTV cameras but never NVR. First, do not place your cameras outside of a window or screen. The screen and window glass reflect the IR back into the camera and you won't see anything. In addition, you can set motion detection zones. So you want to record every time motion is detected in your driveway, but you don't want to record every time someone drives down your street. I set that up, but on the other camera I have a large leafy plant that would trigger motion detection every time the wind blew, so I set the zone there and excluded the plant. This greatly reduces the amount of shells you have to rummage through to get to the video you're really interested in. The cameras were pretty easy to set up and the NVR works well. Field of view is good, clarity is excellent. Can support 4 more cameras for a total of 8, although it only contains 4. I think I will buy a 5th camera to cover my camper. I currently have 1) the driveway covered, 2) the front walkway and front door, 3) the north facing back yard and half of the sliding glass doors, 4) the south facing back yard and the rest of the sliding glass doors. So I closed all entrances. A good DVR and a range of cameras.
