These lanterns are beautiful and functional, but they have one major downside. They only last a year. I use them all year round - I don't turn them on every day - mostly on weekends. Something is wrong with the design as this will lead to battery degradation and leakage. I only use premium batteries so this is not the case. A leak will cause corrosion and then they won't work at all. If you only use them seasonally, I highly recommend storing them after removing the batteries. This is very disappointing as I have bought so many of these. I've bought some other brands and they do the same thing. I have some expensive Halloween ones that I bought from a reputable site about 10 years ago and they still work! My only problem is that they don't have a remote control. The leak I described occurs indoors - I don't use it outdoors.
