Unusable or nearly so

When I was preparing to install this little clock in my car, it turned out that the built-in battery might be dead, so I decided to check it out. To access the battery, I opened the watch by (carefully) prying off the back with a knife blade. The battery passed the test well, but when I tried to snap the back of the watch into place, it didn't fit. No matter what I tried, the back of the watch WILL NOT go back where it belonged. There is a notch on one side of the back that I assume would fit a watch stem, but that's no big deal. To combine or not to combine the notch with the stem - it does not matter. The backrest does not lock properly no matter how it is rotated. It seems to go by the clock, but it's clearly misaligned and will pop out again at the slightest tension. I've been looking closely for anything that might prevent the back wall from coming back, but I can't see anything. I tried attaching the clock (with the back cover removed) to the air conditioner vent anyway, thinking it might hold up well enough. for me to use the watch even if the back wasn't quite in place but no. Turns out the blinds on my '98 Camry aren't deep enough to be held in place with a clip. However, it doesn't matter much. While fiddling with the clip and blinds, the back (offset) came off a few times, emphasizing that the back of the watch not matching the watch renders it unusable. The description of the watch on Revain makes it clear that the battery needs to be replaceable. Even a spare battery is included. To replace (or check) the battery, you must remove the back of the clock. I can't understand why the watches were made in such a way that they didn't come back together. As I type this the little useless watch is put back in the little zip case it came in and that's where it's likely to stay.
