I took it out of the box and my cat lay down straight away. We've had record-breaking temperatures here and the cats seem to prefer a cooling mat on our laminate flooring. When I step on the carpet, it feels noticeably colder than the floor. There is one cat of mine that prefers the mat more than the other two, but I've seen all three of my cats sprawl on it and even get a few territorial looks at someone using it when the other cat wants it. If I had had a bigger apartment, I would have ordered more.
