This is a well made rug at a good price. Unlike the felt mat that came with my turntable, this one doesn't attract static electricity and therefore dust and hair. Looks cool too. Now let me tell you the hard truth. If you think the matte on your turntable significantly affects the sound quality, you are either: a) very inventive b) wrong c) both If you are looking for ways to improve the sound quality of your recordings, you should look you elsewhere. I think a new pickup, amp, turntable and/or speakers will do much better than a new mat. However, if all you need is a nice new turntable mat, I would recommend it.
