Review on Azio Retro Classic Bluetooth (Elwood) - Luxury Vintage Backlit Mechanical Keyboard by Bianca Mares

Nice design, ugly performance

I'll start by saying that I really, really wanted to like this keyboard. Looks sooo cool, plus wireless and mechanical "clicky" keys - oh my god, this has to be the best keyboard ever - at least that's what I thought. So eager was I that I paid an additional $8.95 for overnight delivery. When I got home and saw the box of Revain, I felt an anticipation I hadn't felt since my honeymoon. That's it - retro, clicky and wireless - and all that's left is unpacking and then... typing bliss. Well, kids, the truth of life here is that if you can't type on a keyboard, it's not a keyboard at all. Rather than being hard, tactile, and clicky like Cherry keys, Azio's keys felt more "chattering" and imprecise. The deal breaker was that the gap was actually STICKY! No matter what I tried, it was clear that the problem was that the long plastic rods that attached the spacebar to the switches were stuck, and so no patience or trickery could fix it. It was a simple case of designing a $219 keyboard as a $20 keyboard. So, after a reasonable moment of quiet consideration, I conceded that it wasn't meant to be and handed it back. Now I have a Logitech G613, a perfectly working wireless plastic keyboard with mechanical keys. I've learned to stop looking for emotional fulfillment in my gear. I went further.
